ocean actives –
Extracting the essence from the sea – this is how you could describe our activities in the “ocean actives” area. Marine biologists, biotechnologists and process engineers extract bioactive ingredients from algae and other marine organisms, making them available for skin and hair care as well as for nutrition. A great deal of knowledge from the “ocean biotech” sector flows into our extracts, as does the extensive experience that the “actives” team at oceanBASIS has with the processing of algae and their ingredients. Our natural extracts are primarily derived from algae, the raw materials are obtained sustainably and processed gently.
Lamocrude ’S
The natural brown algae extract with cell-protecting polyphenols and moisturizing algae sugars.
Lamocrude ‘S, the aqueous extract from the brown algae Saccharina latissima (sugar kelp), offers remineralizing, regenerating, skin-caring and skin-protecting properties for cosmetic and hair care products. Skin-protective substances include numerous characteristic algae sugars as well as antioxidant polyphenols. These are supplemented by the minerals and trace elements of seawater and thus provide long-lasting moisture. Gentle processing preserves the chemical integrity of the active ingredients and their physiological availability.

The refined brown algae extract with nourishing factors from algae and yeast.
Lamowell ‘S is a brown algae extract refined by fermentation from the brown algae Saccharina latissima (sugar kelp). A real all-rounder, like the sugar kelp itself:
- Skin protection through radical scavengers
- Hydration and moisturization of the skin through hydrolyzed sulfated polysaccharides.
- Skin smoothing and regeneration through amino acids as well as highly unsaturated fatty acids
- Stimulation of collagen synthesis by low molecular weight fucoidans
Palmocrude ’P
The natural red algae extract with cell-protective amino acids and antioxidant peroxidases.
Palmocrude ‘P, the aqueous extract from the red algae Palmaria palmata, offers remineralizing, regenerating and cell-protecting properties for cosmetic and hair care products. In addition to the minerals and trace elements ubiquitously found in the sea, the extract also contains the valuable ingredients and skin-caring substances of the seaweed – including characteristic algae sugars and antioxidants – in bioavailable form. The mycosporine-like amino acids (MAA) complement the antioxidant effect of the polyphenols through their natural UV protection and thus synergistically provide long-lasting cell protection. At the same time, the production of the skin’s own cell matrix proteins is stimulated.

Fucocrude ’V
The aqueous extract from the brown algae Fucus vesiculosus
Fucocrude ‘V is the aqueous extract from the bladderwrack Fucus vesiculosus. In addition to the brown color pigment fucoxanthin and the numerous polyphenols, Fucus contains the sulfur-containing algae sugars fucoidan and laminarin. Fucus stocks are on the Red List of endangered biotopes in Germany. We therefore source our algae from our own sustainable wild harvest in Denmark.

The original, oceanic collagen with high water-binding capacity
Jellyfish are the innovative new raw material source for original, pure collagen. These sea creatures are seawater come to life: they consist of 98% water. It is the collagen fibers that bind this high water content and give the jellyfish its structure. oceanBASIS gently extracts the collagen to preserve the native triple helix structure. Thus, Qollagen 1% retains the moisture-binding and film-forming properties. During gentle processing, only the voluminous “umbrella” (mesogloea) of the jellyfish is used.

It's fresh!
The extraction of bioactive natural substances begins with the natural raw materials, the algae. We use only fresh, sustainably harvested or cultivated seaweed. Sustainably harvested means, just as in forestry, that only as much is taken from the ecosystem as will grow back and that the ecosystem is not damaged during and after removal. The valuable algae come from the company’s own farm in the Kiel Fjord as well as from Norway, Ireland and Denmark. Freshly harvested, the algae are immediately frozen until they are used in the extraction process. In this way, the integrity of the bioactive components is maintained.
Versatile and effective!
The special thing about oceanBASIS extracts is that a cross-section of active ingredients from these fresh raw materials is processed so gently and effectively that the effectiveness is greater than the sum of its individual parts. The diversity of antioxidants in algae, e.g. polyphenols, pigments, vitamins, special sugar compounds and amino acids results in a synergistic action of antioxidant effects that is stronger than in land plants, e.g. currant or pomegranate. This has the advantage that lower doses can be used and the longevity of the extracts in terms of effect and stability is guaranteed.

Only preservatives that may be used in certified natural cosmetics are used. Our extracts are NATRUE compliant and can easily be used in most cosmetic formulations.
